Post Monthsary Pigout

C:         “Ang ganda ng lights, babe ‘no?”

P:         “Yup ang pretty nga.”

P:         “And the place looks nice too…”

I was almost broke when our 3rd monthsary came. So, as how C puts it, “tipidity mode” muna kame on our date.

However, come pay day on the 30th, I promised him, I’d take him here…

P:         “Come sit here beside me, babe…”

C:         “No babe, I’ll sit across…”

P:         “Arte mo! Hmpf!”

C:         “Hihihi…”

P:         “Oh ayan ah… Finally, we’re here… Happy 3rd monthsary, babe…”

C:         “Happy 3rd, babe…”

We had a feast. We ordered yung pang 3 – 4 people. In fair, kinulang kame sa rice…

C:         “Babe, you want rice pa?”

P:         “No, babe ok lang…”

C:         Sige, na yours na babe… Mahal kasi kita…”

(Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! So hindi naman ako makatili dahil nakakahiya.)

P:         “Ok lang babe…”

C:         “Ganito nalang babe, hati nalang tayo… Coz you’re my half, I’m your half…”

(Shet! Seryoso, gusto kong matunaw sa kilig… Nakakahiya rin namang mag gulong-gulong… Hahaha!)

We were both in a food coma afterwards.

C would’ve wanted us to spend the night together, but I had somewhere to go. I had to attend a company thingie for two days.

*inihabol lang, malapit na kasi ang 4th... hihihi...

Asphyxia

Is there anyone else out there?
Why has it all been about me?
Why are people afraid to step forward?
Are they scared of committing? Of accountability?

Too much on weight on my shoulders
Too much food on my plate
My filled cup spills over
I’m almost fed up, and this I hate

 Judging eyes have scattered
Lapses, misconstrues, and faults they see
I am beginning to falter
I need room to breathe

What if could run away?
What if I could break free?
Liberation calls, who would step forward?
I’d be the first; that would be me.

Evil Fairy Godmother-turned-Matchmaker Last Part

PART 1  |  PART 2PART 3 PART 4 PART 5

SpongeBob introduced me to Baller and Fairy Godmother. And it took me quite some time to get to know them and feel at ease with them. It didn’t take long before Baller started opening up.

It was a fine afternoon, and for some reason, Baller asked if we could talk over coffee. I agreed.

“So, what’s this about?”

Then he started talking…

***

Baller cheated on his girlfriend; it was with some random girl.

“It’s pure booty call?”

“Booty call? Panong booty call?”

“Plangak! How should I put this?? Uhm, ganito nalang… If there’s an itch, you scratch it… How’s that for an illustration?”

“Oh… No… Uhm, sige… Yes nalang…”

(This was the part where I should’ve spilled him coffee… Argh! The nerve!)

What’s wrong with him was that he was a gentleman. He treats her out to dinner, or a movie, and then does the “deed” afterwards. This was the part he shouldn’t have done.

Random girl fell for Baller.

(On cue, scenes almost related to the movie: No Other Woman

She raided his Facebook friends and added Baller’s GF. She, then, messaged her, telling her she and Baller are together. GF printed the evidence.

GF isn’t exactly the nagger type. She’s refined. When she’s angry, she goes for the silent war.

Baller & GF met up, for dinner.

While eating, GF brought the printout of the conversation with random girl on the table, and showed it to Baller.

“What was this about?”

Baller swore he could’ve twisted the fork he was holding and breaks it. He was silent. This is it!

(Enter guillotine.  Heads will definitely roll…)

Had she asked if he knew random girl, he would’ve denied it. Had she asked probing questions, after that, he’d deny it.

But GF went straight for the kill.

Baller died, the moment he saw the hard evidence. And then he thought, “I don’t care if I was a disgrace to the male species…”

“I don’t care if I was one of the few to admit of cheating,” said Baller.

He confessed, he admitted his wrongdoing, he said he was sorry and asked for forgiveness. GF did what was fitting… she, gracefully, walked out.

***

A day after the conversation with SpongeBob, I met up with him again…

“Remember during the game? Why Baller brought her with him?”

“Uh huh”

“It was the day after the dreaded confrontation over dinner. In fact, he was surprised she’d go with him.”

The silent war didn’t commence.

He brought her to the game to let her know he’s not going to fool around. Not anymore.

Baller’s habit of hanging out with just his friends is now gone. She’s going with him, whenever she wants too, whether he likes it or not.

Over the weekend, Baller had a talk with his brother.

He opened up after downing 7 bottles of beer.

“Eh gago ka pala eh!!” said his kuya.

“Eto, hindi muna tayo magkapatid ah… Gago ka! Ba’t mo ginawa yun? Ha?”

“Eh kasi kuya…”

“Shh… Teka, dadagdagan ko pa… GAGO KA!!”

“Tangina naman kuya eh… Wag namang ganyan…”

“Ah basta, GAGO KA!!”

“It was for the last time, kuya… We did it… for the last time... I didn’t know it would end up like this,” cried Baller.

“Good thing, she forgave you, you lucky bastard! Screw this up again, and I swear you’d lose her… for good!”

“I know… I know…”

***

Baller went on with his story…

During dinner, while he was explaining what happened, he watched GF as she incessantly twists the engagement ring around her finger taking it out then putting it back repeatedly.

Had he denied the fact that he cheated on her, she would’ve thrown the engagement ring to his face and ended things right then and there.

But she loves him.

“Do you love her?” asked I.

“Yes,” he answered in a heartbeat.

“Do you see her as being your wife, and mother to your kids?”

“Yes, I do.”

“Then, by all means, make it right this time! Treat her right, do whatever it takes to show her you love her, and for her to feel she is loved!”

“Opo.”

Then laughter came afterwards.

***

Suddenly, almost everyone I know wants to get married and settle down.

Baller and his GF are actually engaged, and they’re getting married in a few days.

I guess this was supposed to be the “happily ever after…”

Not the one Fairy Godmother would’ve wanted.

P.S.       Thanks to SpongeBob, I gained new friends. I was invited to the wedding… and I’m attending.

The Godmother's Gift

Nope, definitely not FGM… She’s the real deal; a second parent. I remember her being so fond of me, that she named her 2nd son as Nate too.

***

An hour before my appointment with her, I received an email. I didn’t exactly read it. I scanned, get context clues and closed the email. Those that were stuck in my head were:

Urgent
Meeting
Lunch time

I was supposed to go out, but then, an email that screams urgent flashed on my laptop’s monitor. It took time. I was supposed to meet her at 11:30AM, but it was only during that time that I was able to leave the office and head out to Galleria.

“Sorry po, got stuck in the office. I’m on my way…”

“Ok, see you, somewhere at the fourth floor.”

Heavy rain. Congested roads. An hour late. Soaking wet pants. Muddy shoes.

While walking towards the 4th floor, I felt that my left pocket was heavy. It was filled with coins, sukli sa pamasahe ko sa FX.

“Bat ko ba kasi nalimutan dalhin ang coin purse ko. Tsk.”

I arrived at the resto. She was with someone.

            “Hello po, Ninang…”

Beso–beso.

“O, hijo, do you want me to order? What do you want?”

Apparently, she already accommodated her next appointment. A client.

I couldn’t blame her, for I was an hour late. She excused herself so that we could talk. The client nodded in approval.

“Naku, look at you. Naulanan ka. I’m sorry.”

“No, it’s ok po. Maybe I just need something to wipe my shoes.”

            “Here, hijo…”

She handed me wet wipes.

            “I know you’re in a hurry, so eto na…”

She, then, handed me two sealed, white envelopes; one for my twin brother, one for my younger brother. From the looks of it, I could tell that they were greeting cards, and inside were also green moolahs. Her compadres from the US met up with her and gave her those so that, in turn, she could hand them to me.

“I’m sorry, there’s none for you, anak. But don’t worry, may gift naman ako sa ‘yo…”

And she handed a blue box, “Go ahead, open it.”

It was a leather coin purse.

While my brothers got something stateside, I got something Proudly Filipino:

So, I guess goodbye now, my old coin purse.

Your two years of service ends today.

Yet Another Surprise

About a week ago, I received a text from C asking for a favor. Apparently, it was Lady in Black’s birthday, and he wanted to throw her a surprise party. Because of the success of the surprise party I put up for him, he trusts that I’d be able to pull off yet another one. I took the challenge.

The Drama

Of course, there has to be a drama. Like an improv, throw in a scenario, then actors would adapt based on the situation and work from there. LIB was out partying with her blockmates, and C and another friend has this made up problem and would want a deep conversation with her. This would reel her inside the coffee shop.

Props

C doesn’t want balloons, coz it’s been done already. So we need to come up with new ones: Party poppers, Illustration board/s, Marker.

We would write our messages and/or birthday greetings on the 1/8 Illustration board, para daw may personal touch.

Execution

When LIB is already inside the coffee shop, C will give us a call. That would be our signal to go down, while singing the Birthday Song, from the 2nd floor of the coffee shop bringing the cake with us. Once LIB blows her cake, that’s when the party poppers will, well pop.

The Dilemma

C told LIB that if it would take her too long to come from the other party going to the coffee shop, then they would already leave. If LIB takes this the other way around, then she might not show up; thinking the others would be going home already.

If there’s a no show, there’s not going to be any surprise party at all.

Relief

Good thing, LIB replied saying that she’s gonna be there. (Thank goodness!)

The Result

SUCCESSFUL. She was almost moved to tears.

The Gift

C's friends would like to open the gift bag for LIB. One of them was like: "OMG. Did you her a piece of clothing too?" Ako na daw kasi ang batayan sa pagbibigay ng gift. Kinaiinggitan daw nila ang gift ko kay C.

C and I decided to give LIB a pink rabbit plushie, which she named Silverio.

***

When I got home after the party, I texted LIB:

Nate:   hello LIB!! happy birthday again!! i’m glad natuwa ka sa surprise nmin.. :)

and buti nlng u liked silverio.. :)

LIB:     Hey you mr may–pasok–pa–later! Thank you so much for last night’s surprise. It was fun spending the last hours of my bday with u and the bb boys. Yep I like silverio, he’s malandi! Hihi, hugs and kisses. :D

It made me smile. But you know what made my smile wider?

C:       Thanks babe! I owe you bigtime. And for that I’ll _________ until you ________.

  Rar.
